Barre fitness draws inspiration from ballet, borrowing moves like plies, tendus, and turned-out positions. It is an effective format to train the posterior chain, but we need to be mindful of excessive hip external rotation. In both yoga and barre classes, many external rotation exercises are performed with little consideration for internal rotation. By incorporating a balance of internal rotation in your classes, you add variety to the class format while your clients’ bodies (and pelvic floor) benefit from these movements.
