This training provides important basic information regarding risks associated with parks and recreation and appropriate steps to properly manage these risks. Participants are provided guidance on how to minimize risks of both user injury and of the legal liability of their organization. Through real case examples, this training demonstrates that risk need not be feared and that some easy-to-follow steps can have a major impact on your organization. The training also includes information on the use of waivers; hold harmless agreements; facility use agreements and the importance of effective signs.

This training is eligible for 0.75 Continuing Education Units for the International Society of Arboriculture in Management, ISA Certified Arborist, and Municipal Specialist.

Facilitated by:

DOUG WYSEMAN has worked in risk management for over 40 years. He is the president of Municipal Risk Services Limited which specializes in risk assessments of parks, recreational lands, and trails as well as the development and implementation of risk management initiatives. Doug has been called as an expert witness on a variety of parks liability matters, and has taught risk management for CPRA, NRPA and the College of the North Atlantic.
